Log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Feedback form is now closed.
The interactive session begins with current research on the role of phonics, phonemic awareness, and phonological awareness as part of a balanced, comprehensive reading program. These foundational skills are often confusing to educators, but the session will clarify the differences between each skill area. Specific strategies to teach and assess working with sounds and sound/symbol relationships will be demonstrated and modeled. All participants will receive a printed handout containing research and resources for teaching these foundational skills. Clarification of the roles of decoding and encoding as part of a balanced program be discussed and clarified as well. This session focuses on the “how” we read rather than “why” we read. There will be time for questions and discussion. Door prizes provided!
