Oneida Special School District consistently leads the state in the number of third graders who are on track or have demonstrated mastery of the state reading expectations. In this session, you’ll learn about the district’s model of reading instruction including how they use Direct Instruction, a key component for their success. Participants will gain understanding of what Direct Instruction is (and what it is not!), observe a model lesson, and hear from Oneida SSD Reading Specialist Denise May about how the district implements it’s comprehensive model—a model that can be replicated and scaled to work anywhere.
